ARID ZINE
Growing plants is a tonic for the soul, but keeping them happy is built on a bedrock of knowledge. Can you split your mycelium from your mealie bugs? How’s the rainfall in Namaqualand? And what sort of deadly weapon are you bringing to brawl between lumpers and splitters?
If you’re not quite sure, don’t fret — Arid Zine is the educational wing of the Bayou Bros empire, with a mission to illuminate the darkest crevices of misunderstanding of all things succulent, botanical and ecological. Arid Zine began as an actual written publication, which you can download below — until I realised that nobody has the attention span for reading anymore, at which point it evolved into a more modern behemoth: a Youtube channel.
Arid Zine vol.1
Where all this botanical bedlam began. With articles about the sacred Boswellia, phallic cacti cultivars and botanical doppelgangers. There’s also a cultivation guide for growing summer-growing succulents from seed and other random bits and bobs.

Where the magic lives on! Typically two episodes are released each week, dealing with whatever succulent fancies cross my mind that week — although I do take requests! Covering everything from hybrid Euphorbias to poisonous plants to how to water a cactus, and so much more.
